Visit to Eastern Fleet Naval Dockyard

The students of classes 9 and 10 had an opportunity to visit the Naval Dockyard on 14th October 2023 from 9:00 am – 10:00 am. The students visited two ships docked at the dockyard - INS SHAKTI and INS KILTAN.

The students were briefed about the various activities and details of the ships through a photo gallery arranged for them.

INS SHAKTI – is a fleet tanker in service with the Indian Navy. It is one of the largest ships in the Indian Navy, with a fuel capacity of 10,000 metric tons. It can refill four ships at a time. It is mainly used to transfer oil, food, and water to other ships at war.

INS KILTAN- It is a warship. It has 4 engines to generate a power of 3000 KW, torpedoes, various types of guns, missile launches, rifles, etc. The students had a chance to hold rifles. They got the idea of defence services to the nation and the life of a soldier at sea.

It was a good learning experience for students. Few students got motivated to join the Armed Services.
