ODISHA EXCURSION - 2020

A divine journey that takes us through the golden triangle of the east India – Bhubaneswar, Puri and Konark.

Little Angels School organizes excursion every year to enrich the students in various skills, to take learning beyond the four walls of the classroom; to facilitate the students to know and understand the real & multicultural world and also to reach out for information beyond the textbook.

This year the excursion was organized to Odisha during Pongal Vacation for the students of classes 8 & 9. A Team of 122 students, 7 escort teachers  and Headmistress  had the opportunity to explore the places of historical importance in Odisha. Our first visit was to Piplli, a village famous for its handicraft and appliqué work, where students understood about the different types of craft work. They also had a great time shopping for their friends and family members. The visit to Jagannath Temple in Puri, one of the chardham pilgrimage of Hindus, was divine.

On the second day, we visited The Sun Temple at Konark, which is also a UNESCO world heritage site. The brilliant architecture of the temple spoke well about the skills of the people those days. Students were amazed to know the history of the temple. Later we visited Dhauli Shanti  Stupa, a striking white peace pagoda and Buddhist shrine situated on a hillock from where the legendary site of famous Kalinga war could be viewed. The visit to the famous Lingaraja Temple in Bhubaneswar concluded the day which made us all feel blessed.

On the third and concluding day the team visited NandanKanan Zoological Park, famous for white tigers and lion safari. From deer and bears to tigers and crocodiles, we sighted several species of birds. The thrill sighting the lions was truly fascinating. The State Tribal Museum threw light on the archaeology, epigraphy, numismatics, armory, craft work etc of the state. Our last stop was the Udayagiri and Khandagiri caves , which dates back to the 2nd century. Children could not resist themselves exploring the multistoreyed cave apartment and quite fearlessly climbed over the rocky surface.

During the trip children enjoyed the company of their friends and at the same time learnt to be more responsible, helpful, caring and to adjust themselves according to the situation. This trip also enhanced the knowledge about the great historical places of Odisha and our rich culture and tradition as well.
