AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON “SILENT SIGHT KILLING DISEASES”


Our eyes are an important part of our health which enables us to see and sense the world around us.  But some eye diseases can lead to vision loss, so it is important to identify & treat them as early as possible.

On 30th December, 2019 an awareness programme on “Silent Sight Killing Diseases” was conducted by Mr.V.Ramesh Kumar, AGM-Corporate Relations, Sankar Foundation, accompanied by US Student volunteer Mr.Siddarth Lokam.  This session was attended by the Principal Nafeesa Mam, teachers and the students of 8th & 9th classes.

 The resource person Mr.V.Ramesh Kumar, through his power point  presentation promoted awareness as well as knowledge of childhood blindness, major age-related eye diseases like Macula  degeneration, cataract, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma their causes & symptoms.

He educated students on the importance of periodic eye examination to check for vision and eye problems & adults for comprehensive dilated eye examination.

He also highlighted about the eye care services undertaken by Sankar Foundation, for elimination of avoidable blindness.

 He interacted with the students & clarified their doubts about various eye related issues.  The students were very energetic & active throughout the session.  On the whole it was a highly informative and productive awareness programme.
