Educational Visit to the Eastern Naval Command


 

As part of an educational and awareness programme, 45 students of Classes 9 and 10 had the unique opportunity to visit the Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Navy at Visakhapatnam on 20th September 2025 (Saturday). The visit was organised to provide students with a firsthand exposure to the naval forces that safeguard India’s maritime frontiers.

Purpose of the Visit: The primary objectives of the visit were:

To understand the role and responsibilities of the Eastern Naval Command

To gain knowledge about the functioning of Indian warships

To interact with naval officers and crew

To develop awareness of maritime security and national defence

Observations:

    Orientation Session:
    Students attended a PowerPoint presentation and briefing by naval officers, which highlighted the history, structure, and operations of the Eastern Naval Command — the largest naval command of India.

    Visit to Warships:

    Students boarded INS Mysore, where they observed the design, advanced navigation systems, weaponry, and control rooms.

    Officers explained how warships are equipped with missiles, torpedoes, radars, and communication systems to address potential threats at sea.

    The role of the Navy in humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and anti-piracy operations was also emphasised.

    Interaction with Personnel:
    Students interacted with officers and sailors, who shared their experiences of serving in the Navy, the discipline required and the pride of protecting the nation’s maritime interests.

    Demonstrations:
    Students witnessed the use of safety equipment and observed how warships are maintained in a constant state of operational readiness.

Learning Outcomes:

Students developed a deep respect for the dedication, discipline, and sacrifice of naval personnel.

Their understanding of India’s maritime security and naval power was greatly enhanced.

The visit inspired many students to consider careers in the Armed Forces.

Conclusion:

The visit to the Eastern Naval Command was an enriching and inspiring experience. It not only broadened the students’ knowledge of the Navy’s crucial role in safeguarding national security but also instilled patriotism and admiration for the valour of our defence forces.
