GANDHI JAYANTHI CELEBRATIONS

The school celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October with lots of patriotism and enthusiasm. The day remembers one of the prominent leaders in India’s independence movement who inspired the world with his ideas – ‘Mahatma Gandhi’.

To mark the occasion various programmes were organized by the Social Science club 'Virasat'. Director Smt. Ranganayaki, Principal Smt. Visalakshi, Headmistress Smt. Arundhati paid floral tributes to the portrait of the ‘Father of the Nation’. Children presented quotes by the iconic leader Mahatma Gandhi. An article based on  Gandhiji’s autobiography – ‘My Experiments  With Truth’ was also presented by the students.

To evoke the memories of the great leader melodious songs were rendered by the school choir. To showcase  various roles of Gandhiji in the freedom struggle, children presented skits on Gandhiji’s  journey to South Africa, Champaran movement and Salt Satyagraha. A mime on ‘Incredible India’ and a pre recorded speech of  Mahatma Gandhi were also presented by the students.

A grand programme was organized  at Mahatma Gandhi Park, Ukkunagaram by Visakhapatnam Steel Plant wherein children showcased a colourful dance and a song.

School Director Smt. Ranganayaki in her message advised the students to follow the ideals of  Mahatma Gandhi which are very important for the present generation and also for the development  of the nation. She also insisted that students should encounter  the challenges with courage and imbibe good values to become  better persons in life.
